How Michigan approves new notaries

Confirm you're eligibleTypically 18 or older, a resident of (or employed in) Michigan, and free of disqualifying convictions.

Complete any required training or examSome states require an education course and/or exam before you apply — our 2-hour prep course gets you ready for it.

Secure your bond & suppliesMany states require a surety bond, plus an official stamp or seal and a record journal.

Submit your applicationFile with Michigan's commissioning authority (often the Secretary of State) and pay the filing fee.
